Barbara B. Appelbaum, PCC, MBA, MAT
As a motivational speaker, published author, certified wellness coach and consultant, Barbara is inspiring people to look and feel younger longer, even with a chronic illness, through mindful health and a meaningful life. With the publication of her first book, Live in Wellness Now (Love Your Life Publishing), Barbara is recognized as an expert in the growing field of an integrative approach to proactive wellness.
Barbara is a seasoned professional who authentically walks-the-talk every day. In a matter of mere seconds on a Thursday morning in June 2006, her life changed forever. In the blink of an eye she experienced symptoms of what appeared to be a stroke at the mere age of 44. Ultimately, Barbara was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis. This gift made her realize the importance of living life as healthfully as possible and helping others do the same, especially as they age.
Barbara’s genuine compassion, expertise and first-hand knowledge educates and inspires motivated middle-aged professionals to stave off age-related disease and learn to be present, be purposeful and be well. By combining healthy living, spirituality, and neuroscience principles, she helps people understand how to be proactive in their health care versus reactionary in their sick care so they can feel great in their body and in their life. Her greatest wish is to never hear a person say, “I should be taking better care of myself.”
As a member of the National Speaker’s Association, Barbara holds two master’s degrees, one in business and one in teaching, and is a certified member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), International Association for Health Coaches, and American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). Barbara is a Certified Wellness Coach (iPEC) and Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (IIN). She is also a consultant to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and an Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Greater Illinois Chapter. Barbara guest-lectures at Canyon Ranch – Tucson, AZ and is a regular contributor to ModernDayMS and Maria Shriver’s blog.
